Peter Knight - Too Late For Shadows

PETER KNIGHT
PKCD002
A stunning new solo album from Peter Knight
Tracks:-
1. LARK IN THE MORNING
A wonderful re-working of the traditional tune. The hairs on the back or you
neck will prickle as the multi-tracked violins swoop in and out of this lovely
melody.
2. SHARPE GOES WALKABOUT
A new tune by Peter. Remember that infectious rhythm of ‘The Weaver and
the Factory Maid’ by Steeleye? Well this tune also has it. Not the same meter
as Weaver but just as infectious as it rolls along bring images of the
Australian outback to a cold and grey Blighty. Try to stop you toes from tapping
to this.
3. POWDERED WIGS AND FOUNTAINS
The title perfectly describes this charming new piece. You can just imagine
the noble ladies and gentlemen strolling around the formal gardens of the
palaces and stately homes dressed in all their finery.
4. THE WATER CARRIERS
Two violins seem to interweave and harmonise in this evocative new tune, but
is actually just one violin. Peter uses double stopping to create this amazing
effect. Hypnotic.
5. BETSY BELL AND MARY GREY
The second traditional track on the album. A new arrangement from Peter for
this soulful classic. Stunning violin playing over a keyboard pad. Wonderful!
6. LISINSKY
Eastern European/Gypsy feel to this new composition. You can just imagine
the young peasant girls dancing to this. Fresh and uplifting as pure clean
country air.
7. KATRINA OF MOORPARK
Lovely name and a lovely new tune. This is another catchy toe-tapping dance
tune. Gorgeous light nimble fiddle playing over a rhythmical backing.
8. TOO LATE FOR SHADOWS
Title track and my current favourite. This is just a great, great tune. New
one by Peter that’s starts with a mesmeric rhythm and just builds. This is
pure joy. I walk/dance to this.
9. MOULIN ROGUE
Think Django Reinhart and Stéphane Grapelli for this 1930s Jazz inspired
piece. Try to keep still while this is playing.
10. THE LARK IN THE MORNING –REPRISE
So we round off this great CD with a reprise of the first track. Perfect!
This is a ‘must buy’ album for lovers of great music. Over 56 minutes of
musical heaven.
